Slate Thoughts:

  • There are a number of great arms on this slate, allowing you to select from a multitude of options. Jacob deGrom and Sonny Gray are the two high-priced options that stick out in cash. Either can be used, but Gray comes with a significantly lower price tag on DraftKings. I’d likely use him on DK and deGrom on FD. If you’re looking for a cheaper arm, Andrew Heaney gets a great matchup against the Rangers in Texas. He should find quite a bit of ownership as the SP2 on this slate.
  • Lance Lynn is an elite tournament option, as it looks like he’s going to fly under the radar. He comes with tremendous upside and will benefit from throwing in Texas today. Brandon Woodruff is on the other side of the Gray game, and he comes with quite a bit of upside, as well. Charlie Morton and Vince Velasquez are two more high upside options, although they come with quite a bit of risk in their matchups today, as well.
  • The Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins are likely to be the highest owned stacks of the day. They have the highest implied team totals, which is often an indicator of ownership. I prefer Minnesota of these two stacks. If you spend up at both pitching slots, the Detroit Tigers offer a cheaper stack that allows you to get them. Alex Verdugo and Rafael Devers are two Boston players that I will be looking to use regardless of whether I stack them, though.
  • I don’t expect a full Detroit stack to be highly owned on this slate, making them a fine tournament play, as well. Our very own Ben Hossler pointed out the Tampa Bay Rays early this morning in our Discord because of James Paxton’s velocity issues early this season, and I’m willing to back that stack, as well. The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets are two high upside stacks on somewhat of a tough slate for offense, although I won’t be forcing them into my lineups.
