Slate Thoughts:

  • There are a few cash options at pitcher today but two stand above the rest – Brandon Woodruff and Blake Snell. Woodruff gets the elite matchup against a RHP against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Snell also gets a plus matchup against Miami, and his price tag doesn’t represent that he can throw 100 pitches in a game at this point. If you want to save at your SP2, the obvious choice is Dane Dunning. He’s a great prospect and gets a plus matchup against the Kansas City Royals. I’m likely narrowing my cash options to these three with Woodruff/Snell being the clear duo if I can get there.
  • Kenta Maeda and Luis Castillo are two high-priced options that I’m willing to take a shot on today. They both come with upside in their respective matchups, although I think they’re both a step behind Woodruff and Snell for their prices. I believe you can use either pitcher in the Oakland/Houston. Framber Valdez and Jesus Luzardo are risky options because of their handedness in this matchup, but each comes with tremendous upside, as well. Tony Gonsolin is the final option I’d consider but he’s a clear step down from the other top options on this slate.
  • NOTE: The Houston Astros and Oakland A’s game has been postponed due to a positive Covid test.
  • The Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals are a pair of teams that have the highest implied run totals on this slate. Either side of this game is an elite stacking option, and they have a number of players that are far too cheap for this slate. There are a few players on the Los Angeles Dodgers or Milwaukee Brewers including Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, and Keston Hiura to name a few options.
  • The Chicago White Sox are my top tournament stack today. They get a matchup against Kris Bubic, who I feel will continue to struggle early in his MLB career. It’s a bit odd the White Sox feature an elite offense but consistently go overlooked. The Minnesota Twins and Cincinnati Reds are interesting options on this slate, as well. Furthermore, you can use the Dodgers or Brewers in tournaments, as they’ll likely go under-owned compared to the Red Sox and Nationals.
  • NOTE: The New York Mets and New York Yankees game is the first of a double-header, meaning it will only be seven innings. It makes the bats significantly riskier.
