Slate Thoughts:
- There are five total cash options at pitcher on this slate. The top on is Dylan Bundy, who is also the most expensive. Lance Lynn is the second most expensive option on this slate, and he’s also an option. Both have looked outstanding on this slate, but I prefer Bundy over Lynn as my SP1. I also likely won’t pay up for two pitchers, meaning Lynn will shift to my GPP pool. For my SP2, I’m looking at Luke Weaver or Brett Anderson. Of the duo, I like Weaver more, but I may be forced to use Anderson to fit the Coors bats on this slate. Lastly, Ross Stripling will garner ownership, but I see very little reason to pay up for him. He has struggled and doesn’t have a set pitch count, meaning his floor isn’t higher than the other options I outlined.
- I’m likely going to stick with the four cash options in tournaments. This isn’t a slate I love the pitching and I’m not looking to force anything. The only low owned option that I am slightly interested in is JT Brubaker. He isn’t a good pitcher but he has strikeout stuff and gets a good matchup for it. The upside is at least there and he’s likely to be extremely low owned on this slate.
- The chalk is simple tonight. It will go to the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies. The only other team that may get some ownership is the Washington Nationals but they are a clear third stack behind the Coors game. There are surprisingly cheap options in the Coors game, including Austin Hedges, Josh Naylor, Matt Kemp, Josh Fuentes, and Brandon Rodgers. In other words, you don’t really have to shy away from this game regardless of pitching, assuming these projected starters are in the lineups. The only other option that I would feel completely comfortable in cash is Jacob Stallings as a salary relief option at catcher.
- The Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks are ahead of all of the other stacks in tournaments. They both would be significantly higher owned if this weren’t a Coors slate, as they get plus matchups tonight. Washington can also be used, as they are also going to be less owned than they should be tonight. The Los Angeles Dodgers will go overlooked and always come with upside while the Texas Rangers are a risky stack but get you leverage if Stripling is highly owned.
