Total Base Race – Texas Rangers/Chicago White Sox
The Texas Rangers get an elite matchup against Ross Detwiler tonight. He has struggled through 11 games (6 starts) in 2019, posting a 5.50 xFIP and a 4.88 SIERA. He has been at his worst against right-handed batters, allowing them to hit for a .341 average with a .635 slugging percentage and a .425 wOBA. He has also given up a .269/.500/.344 line at home this season. Danny Santana has found plenty of success this season, and he is hitting for a .279 average with a .581 slugging percentage and a .860 OPS over his last 10 games. He boasts seven extra-base hits (three home runs) over that span, as well. He enters this game with 45% hard hit and 30% fly ball rates to go along with a 91 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days, as well. Santana has been slightly better against right-handed pitching this season, but his numbers against left-handed pitching are nothing to scoff at. Hunter Pence is a player that has found more success against lefties, brings 0.062 wOBA and 0.136 ISO differentials against left-handed pitching into this game. He has also recorded a .414 average with a .552 slugging percentage and a 1.066 OPS over his last 10 games. Over that span, he owns two extra-base hits (one home run). Pence possesses 33% hard hit, fly ball, and line drive rates with a 92 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days, as well. Ariel Jurado will be taking the mound for Texas tonight. He has seen plenty of ups and downs this season, posting a 4.89 xFIP and a 5.04 SIERA. He has been a reverse splits pitcher, allowing right-handed batters to record a .324 average with a .557 slugging percentage and a .381 wOBA against him. Jurado has also given up a .283/.479/.338 line on the road this season. Jose Abreu has caught fire recently, as he owns a .333 average with a .718 slugging percentage and a 1.075 OPS over his last 10 games. He boasts seven extra-base hits (four home runs) in those games, as well. Abreu has also recorded 51% hard hit and 31% fly ball rates with a 93 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He has been better against left-handed pitching, but he has been playing well enough to be used for the Chicago White Sox side of this play.
