The Boston Red Sox get a matchup against Brendan McKay, who has posted a 3.86 xFIP and a 3.88 SIERA through only four starts this season. He has been at his worst against right-handed batters, though, who own a .258 average with a .435 slugging percentage and a .287 wOBA against him this season. This will be McKay’s first true road test in his MLB career, suggesting he could struggle a bit more than he has early on. Mookie Betts continue to play well, as he owns a .293 average with a .610 slugging percentage and a .964 OPS over his last 10 games. He boasts seven extra-base hits (three home runs) over that span. He also owns 40% hard hit and 46% fly ball rates to go along with a 94 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Betts has been better against right-handed pitching this season, but he has found plenty of success against lefties throughout his career. Xander Bogaerts has also found tremendous success recently, possessing a .311 average with a .556 slugging percentage and a .910 OPS over his last 10 games. He has posted seven extra-base hits (two home runs) in those games. Surprisingly, Bogaerts has only posted a 28% hard hit rate with an 88 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. That’s a bit concerning, but he also owns a 51% fly ball rate over that span. He also brings 0.005 wOBA and 0.007 ISO differentials against left-handed pitching into this game. Austin Meadows gets a matchup against Andrew Cashner, who has posted a 4.85 xFIP and a 4.95 SIERA this season. He has held left-handed batters to a .217/.300/.257 line in 2019, but Cashner is due for massive regression against lefties. Meadows has found success recently, posting a .289 average with a .526 slugging percentage and a .913 OPS over his last 10 games. He has recorded five extra-base hits (one home run) in those games, as well. Meadows has also found success over the last 15 days, as he boasts 50% hard hit and 32% fly ball rates to go along with a 92 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He also enters this game with 0.076 wOBA and 0.04 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching.
