Total Base Race – Seattle Mariners/Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers will see an opener (Matt Wisler) tonight, but they’ll play the majority of their innings against Wade LeBlanc. The latter has struggled with a 5.00 xFIP and a 4.69 SIERA through 16 games (7 starts). LeBlanc has struggled with home runs, giving up 38.6% fly ball and 16.2% HR/FB rates this season. He has also allowed his opponents to post a 34.1% hard hit rate, while recording only a 12.5% soft hit rate in 2019. LeBlanc has been slightly worse against right-handed batters, allowing them to hiht for a .281 average with a .485 slugging percentage and a .339 wOBA. He has given up a .240/.507/.318 line to left-handed batters, as well. Most importantly, he has allowed his opponents to post a .325/.603/.388 line on the road this season. Danny Santana has been playing at an extremely high level recently, recording a .348 average with a .696 slugging percentage and a 1.057 OPS over his last 10 games. He boasts eight extra-base hits (three home runs) in those games. He owns 46% hard hit and 43% fly ball rates with a 95 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Santana brings a 0.034 ISO differential against left-handed pitching into this game, as well. Nomar Mazara has also looked outstanding over his last 10 games, posting a .308 average with a .590 slugging percentage and a .931 OPS. He enters this game with five extra-base hits (three home runs) over that span, as well. Mazara also possesses 41% hard hit and 37% fly ball rates to go along with a 92 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Hunter Pence has been struggling a bit recently, posting a .294 average with a .324 slugging percentage and a .638 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns only one extra-base hit in those games. Pence has also posted 25% hard hit and 31% fly ball rates with a 90 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. With that being said, he brings 0.038 wOBA and 0.077 ISO differentials against left-handed pitching into this game. Texas currently features an implied run total of 5.8 runs, and their offense should find plenty of success in this matchup.
