Total Base Race – Los Angeles Dodgers/Colorado Rockies
The Los Angeles Dodgers feature an offense that is ideal for Colorado. They get somewhat of a tough matchup against Jon Gray tonight, who has thrown well in Coors this season. Surprisingly, he owns a 3.87 xFIP at home, although that rises to 4.29 against left-handed batters. This play is more about the batters than the pitcher, though. Joc Pederson is only hitting .229 with a .400 slugging percentage and a .725 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns two extra-base hits in those games, as well. He’s also due for a breakout, as he possesses 51% hard hit and 41% fly ball rates to go along with a 95 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Pederson brings 0.12 wOBA and 0.206 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching into this game, as well. Cody Bellinger is in a nearly identical position to Pederson. He’s only hitting .182 with a .303 slugging percentage and a .660 OPS over his last 10 games. He boasts two extra-base hits (one home run) in those games. Bellinger enters this game with 36% hard hit and 48% fly ball rates with a 94 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He has also been at his best against right-handed pitching, posting 0.086 wOBA and 0.111 ISO differentials against righties. Max Muncy is another player that has dominated righties, brings 0.07 wOBA and 0.068 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching into this game. He has posted a .219 average with a .438 slugging percentage and a .847 OPS over his last 10 games. He has recorded three extra-base hits (two home runs) over that span, as well. Surprisingly, Muncy only owns 26% hard hit and 38% fly ball rates with a 90 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Still, he adds plenty of upside to this play. The Dodgers feature the highest implied run total on the slate at 6.9 runs, and it isn’t often that the total is set this low for that high of a total. I’d expect this to move to 8.5 total bases at some point today, so get this play in while it’s still low.
