Total Base Race – Cleveland Indians/Kansas City Royals
The Cleveland Indians get an elite matchup against Mike Montgomery, who has struggled through 21 games (1 start) in 2019. In those games, he owns a 1-3 record with a 6.83 ERA and a 1.86 WHIP. He has struggled with a 4.81 xFIP and a 5.23 SIERA, as well. He has held his opponents to a 23% fly ball rate in 2019, but he has also given up a ridiculous 30.4% HR/FB rate. He has also allowed his opponents to post a 42.6% hard hit rate this season, while posting only a 9.9% soft hit rate. Surprisingly, Montgomery has been significantly worse against left-handed batters, but he is allowing right-handed batters to post a .260 average with a .494 slugging percentage and a .353 OPS this season. Francisco Lindor has been playing at a high level recently, posting a .333 average with a .571 slugging percentage and a .935 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns six extra-base hits (two home runs) over that span, as well. Lindor boasts 48% hard hit and 35% fly ball rates to go along with a 93 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He has been slightly more consistent against left-handed pitching, as well, posting a 0.008 wOBA differential against lefties. Oscar Mercado has also been playing at a high level, as he’s hitting .359 with a .769 slugging percentage and a 1.178 OPS over his last 10 games. In those games, he has recorded seven extra-base hits (four home runs). Furthermore, he owns 37% hard hit and 45% fly ball rates with a 93 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He brings 0.005 wOBA and 0.005 ISO differentials against left-handed pitching into this game, as well. Jose Ramirez is the final piece of this stack, and he continues to play at an elite level. Over the last 15 games, he possesses a .350 average with a .625 slugging percentage and a .982 OPS. He boasts seven extra-base hits (two home runs) in those games, as well. Ramirez also enters this game with 50% hard hit and 44% fly ball rates with a 93 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Cleveland features an implied run total of 5.5 runs tonight, and they should find plenty of success in this game.
