Total Base Race – Los Angeles Dodgers/Colorado Rockies
This isn’t a sexy pick, but it’s a necessary one. We only have four games, and the Los Angeles Dodgers offense is projected nearly two runs higher than the next highest total. They get a matchup against Peter Lambert, who has posted a 2-0 record with a 5.85 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP through four starts. He does own a 4.24 xFIP and a 4.44 SIERA this season, as well. With that being said, Lambert has struggled in the minors, and his MLB struggles are likely to continue. He has held his opponents to a 28.1% fly ball rate, although he has allowed them to post a 16.7% HR/FB rate this season. He has also given up a 40.9% hard hit rate to go along with a 9.1% soft hit rate in 2019. Lambert has also been at his worst against left-handed batters, allowing them to hit for a .313 average with a .656 slugging percentage and a .407 wOBA. Joc Pederson has been cold recently, posting a .219 average with a .438 slugging percentage and a .680 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns three extra-base hits (two home runs) over that span, as well. He has also recorded 37% hard hit and 46% fly ball rates with a 91 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Pederson has dominated right-handed pitching, though, as he enters this game with 0.133 wOBA and 0.18 ISO differentials against righties. Cody Bellinger is another player that has been at his best against righties, as he boasts 0.084 wOBA and 0.095 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching. He has been playing at an elite level recently, though, recording a .344 average with a .844 slugging percentage and a 1.305 OPS over his last 10 games. He has also posted eight extra-base hits (four home runs) in those games. Furthermore, Bellinger owns 59% hard hit and 37% fly ball rates with a 98 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Max Muncy is the final piece of the puzzle. He owns a .242 average with a .364 slugging percentage and a .754 OPS over his last 10 games. Surprisingly, he has recorded only two extra-base hits (one home run) in those contests. Muncy has also posted 36% hard hit and 21% fly ball rates with a 94 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He does enter this game with 0.02 wOBA and 0.04 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching, though. This is a powerful trio against right-handed pitchers, and their power will be enhanced a bit in Colorado tonight. They make an elite trio in terms of total bases.
