Over Under 2/2 – Miami Marlins/Philadelphia Phillies
These are two extremely high props, but these are two strikeout pitchers in great situations. Aaron Nola has struggled with command this season, but he still owns a 24.6% strikeout rate. With that being said, he has struggled a bit with an 8.4% swinging strike rate. The Miami Marlins own the third highest strikeout on the slate, and Nola is coming off of a nine strikeout performance against the Colorado Rockies. I expect him to start returning to form in this matchup, and he could see a double-digit strikeout performance here. Caleb Smith has been the best kept secret in the MLB early this season, but he’s no longer a secret. He owns an elite 33.3% strikeout rate to go along with a 14.5% swinging strike rate. Smith only posted six strikeouts in his only start against the Philadelphia Phillies this season, but I’m expecting a better performance tonight. The Phillies strikeout at the highest rate on the slate, and Smith should throw six innings in this game. If that’s the case, the over looks significantly more appealing than the under.
