Over Under 2/2 – Los Angeles Angels/Oakland A’s
Matt Chapman is in an elite position tonight, as he gets a matchup against Matt Harvey. Harvey struggled quite a bit against right-handed batters last season, and he owns one of the highest HR/9 on the slate. Chapman is also at his best against right-handed pitching, entering this game with 0.032 wOBA and 0.101 ISO differentials against righties. Chapman is also hitting second in the Oakland A’s lineup, putting him in an elite spot for runs or RBIs tonight. Kole Calhoun is coming off of a down year, but that could turn around. He’s at his best against right-handed pitching, possessing 0.009 wOBA and 0.097 ISO differentials against righties. He gets a matchup against Marco Estrada, who has been worse against right-handed batters, but still struggles against lefties. Most importantly, Estrada features the highest HR/9 rate on the slate, and Calhoun is in a spot to utilize his power tonight.

Over Under 2/2 – Arizona Diamondbacks/Los Angeles Dodgers
These strikeout totals are both surprisingly low for these two players. Robbie Ray is coming off of an elite season [in terms of strikeouts], posting a 12.0 K/9 over 24 games. Ross Stripling wasn’t nearly as good, but he still owned a more than respectable 10.0 K/9 over 33 games (21 starts). Both of these teams rank in the bottom-seven of the slate in terms of strikeouts per at-bat, and there’s very little reason to believe they won’t both easily find the overs. The only concern would be a potential pitch count limit to start the season, but I fully expect both pitchers to see 90+ pitches, which should be enough to find the overs. Take advantage of this now because Ray and Stripling’s totals are going to increase as the season progresses.
